In life we go through many changes and challenges. Some of these transitions may bring joy and excitement while others can cause emotions you may find difficult to experience and manage. I am here to assist you through guidance and support to meet your goals and improve your emotional wellbeing. I am dedicated to helping clients through difficult times by providing a comfortable and safe space along with information, guidance, and new tools to assist in coping with their circumstances.
My name is Chelsea Vance and I am a licensed clinical social worker. Have you found yourself feeling overwhelmed by circumstances in your life? Have you been feeling more worried, sad, or maybe even angry at times? Sometimes you may feel stuck, hopeless, and overall exhausted during times of transition and day-to-day stress.
Therapy is a tool that may be used spark change within your life and assist you in coping with difficult emotions. I believe in using a collaborative approach to therapy, working together to identify your goals and develop a plan to reach them.
In my practice, I use multiple treatment models to best help each client based on their individual needs. Large portions of the techniques I use are based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Mindfulness. These strategies can assist in enhancing relaxation, improving your mood, strengthening relationships, and developing ways to manage stress.
I received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from University of Redlands in 2012. During this time, I discovered my passion for working with underserved populations, including individuals struggling with homelessness. This led me to obtain a Masters in Social Work from San Diego State University in 2014 and a license in clinical social work in 2017. I have provided assistance to individuals experiencing mental health concerns on an inpatient and outpatient basis. I have worked with many individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, panic, relationship difficulties, and phase of life challenges.
Through my experience and education I have developed knowledge and gained tools to best assist my clients. In addition to the information provided during sessions, I believe an influential portion of therapy is the relationship between the therapist and client. Together, the client and therapist can use this connection to explore difficult experiences and emotions that may be holding them back from making changes they wish to see within themselves and their lives. I believe it is important for clients to feel comfortable expressing themselves during each session without fear of judgment to best move forward on their path towards healing.
